Stream Watch is a partnership program between the Jones Falls Watershed Association and Baltimore County's Department of Environmental Protection and Management. Stream Watch allows the Jones Falls community to learn more about their local streams while simultaneously assisting the JFWA and local governments with the collection of valuable stream health data. Stream Watch is perfect for individuals, cooperate groups, students and families. Contact the JFWA to learn more or to sign up.

Why Adopt a Stream?
- Learn more about your local streams.
- Help collect valuable data on Baltimore stream health.
- Monitoring streams helps to monitor the overall health of the environment.
- Make a difference in your community.
- Teachers - get your students outside learning about their local environment.

Adopt-a-Stream Levels
There are several levels of adoption to choose from. Each has different responsibility and time commitment requirements. Volunteers can adopt as an individual or a group and may choose their own stream to adopt. Most volunteers adopt 1/4 mile or less of stream in their neighborhood or backyard.

STREAM CLEANER
Stream Cleaners are responsible for removing trash from their adopted section on a quarterly basis. Removing trash in and around streams will not only create a more beautiful area, but will also improve the overall health of the stream.
STREAM WALKER
Along with quarterly trash clean-ups, Stream Walkers complete a once-yearly visual stream assessment designed to collect information on the overall health of a stream and its riparian area.
STREAM WATCHER
In addition to the Stream Cleaner and Walker responsibilities, the Stream Watcher will also collect specific information on stream impacts and identify specific restoration opportunities within the stream.
